An Ohio man was arrested Sunday after he apparently broke into a Salem home and went to sleep, according to state police.

Brendan Scott Szrenkanyi, 37, of Cleveland, is charged with burglary, criminal trespass and loitering at night.

A Salem resident called state police at 2:41 a.m. Sunday after he found Szrenkanyi sleeping in his house and kicked him out. Police said in court papers they located Szrenkanyi and a second man on foot at the intersection of routes 22 and 66.

The resident identified Szrenkanyi as the person who was inside his home. Szrenkanyi told investigators that he “walked into the wrong house, when I realized that, I left,” according to court papers.

The second man, Klevon Lee Jackson, 30, also of Cleveland, is charged with conspiracy, burglary, criminal trespass and loitering at night. Both suspects are free on $100,000 unsecured bond.

Szrenkanyi could not be reached. When reached by a reporter Monday, Jackson said the vehicle they had been traveling in was damaged during a collision with a deer.

“I’m not sure what Brendan was doing but I just followed him,” Jackson said.

Preliminary hearings are set for Nov. 18.
