An Allegheny County man accused of intentionally striking a man with his SUV in the parking lot of a North Huntingdon Sheetz was arrested by police.

Alan B. Israel, 45, of White Oak was charged after the incident at 8:19 a.m. Sunday outside the store at 13700 Route 30.

The man told police he left the building and was walking through the parking lot when he was intentionally struck by a black SUV, knocking him to the ground, Officer Troy Pecina reported.

The man told police the SUV fled the scene. While police were interviewing the victim, a black 2022 Jeep Cherokee pulled in and the man identified it as the vehicle that hit him, Pecina wrote in court documents.

Israel told police he “accidentally” struck the man as he was leaving.

Pecina reviewed the store’s surveillance video of the incident.

“… it can be seen that there was enough space for (Israel) to safely navigate around the victim in the parking lot as he was leaving,” Pecina wrote.

Police said the video shows Israel “accelerating” toward the victim, “launching him in the air” before he fell to the ground.

It was unclear whether the man required hospital treatment.

Israel was charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangering another person and reckless driving. He was ordered held in the county prison after failing to post $50,000 bond pending a preliminary hearing June 15.

He did not have an attorney listed in court documents.
