State police arrested a 25-year-old Mt. Pleasant man on accusations of firing a handgun at a car that drove past a friend’s home over the weekend, according to court documents.

Joshua Scott Lucot was ordered held in the county prison on $250,000 bond after the incident at 2 a.m. Saturday outside a home along the 900 block of Mt. Pleasant Road, which is in East Huntingdon.

Trooper Nathan Ellwood said in court documents that a Mt. Pleasant area man and Tyler Smiley, Lucot’s friend, argued outside Smiley’s home around midnight. The man told troopers that Smiley and Lucot subsequently followed him in separate vehicles after he left and went to a Walmart and Sheetz, both in East Huntingdon. He told troopers that at one point, Lucot pointed a handgun toward him.

Ellwood said about 2 p.m., the man drove past Smiley’s residence as he was returning home. Lucot, who was on the porch, fired a silver handgun, shattering the driver’s side window, he said. The man was not injured, police said.

The man drove his damaged vehicle into Scottdale and reported the incident to borough police, who contacted state troopers.

Ellwood said when troopers arrived at Smiley’s home, Smiley ran inside, but officers found a Colt pistol and a silver, .22 caliber handgun “sitting in plain view on the porch.”

“(Lucot) was located inside the residence. Lucot admitted to firing a BB gun toward (a) vehicle, but denied using the firearms,” Ellwood wrote.

Lucot is charged with aggravated assault, carrying a firearm without a license, disorderly conduct, driving on a suspended license and reckless endangerment. Smiley was not charged.

According to online dockets, Lucot is awaiting trial on charges of fleeing from police, carrying a firearm without a license, drug possession, driving under the influence and related traffic offenses in connection a May 2021 high-speed police pursuit as he drove a motorcycle from New Stanton into Hempfield Township.

Troopers allege Lucot was driving 85 mph in a 35 mph zone. He crashed and was taken into custody. Police said they seized suspected methamphetamine, THC wax, marijuana and a digital scale.
