Homes, vehicles damaged after fire hydrant broke in Ross

A truck crashing into a fire hydrant in Ross on Thursday evening ended up damaging homes and vehicles, reports Tribune-Review news partner WPXI.

Neighbors told WPXI they witnessed a truck strike the hydrant along Rochester Road a little before 6 p.m. Water eventually began shooting out of the hydrant, causing the road to be closed.

Surrounding homes suffered flooding, broken windows and damaged pools. Vehicles parked outside also sustained damage.

Some neighbors were forced to relocate for the night with assistance from the Red Cross.

Rochester Road has since reopened.
