Man accused by police in theft of $200K from Rostraver ATV-motorcycle shop is arraigned
A co-owner of a Rostraver motor sports company who is accused of fleeing to Poland after his partners claimed he stole $200,000 from the company turned himself in to authorities last week, according to court dockets.
Edward Zdobinski, 49, part owner of Triple A Motorsports, is free on $50,000 unsecured bond after being arraigned on a theft charge. Rostraver police on April 11 charged him with taking money from the company at 857 Route 51. The company sells all-terrain vehicles and motorcycles.
Authorities believed he had fled to Poland with his girlfriend.
Police Sgt. Kerry August alleges in court documents the theft occurred from October 2020 until September 2021. An office manager discovered during a routine review of financial statements “a large amount of questionable business credit card transactions made by Zdobinski for his personal use,” August reported.
Zdobinski later approached the manager “and asked her to cover up his wrongdoing,” August wrote.
Zdobinski could not be reached for comment. His attorney is Jeffrey Miller of Bolivar.
“I will say that you guys (media) have a lot wrong. But that’s all I’m going to say at this time,” Miller said.
He declined to disclose when Zdobinski returned from Poland.
August said Zdobinski was “very cooperative” with authorities after police obtained an arrest warrant last month.
Zdobinski lives in Hempfield, according to court documents.
A message left with Zdobinski’s All State Insurance Agency in Unity was not returned.
A preliminary hearing is scheduled June 6 before District Judge Charles Christner.
