Jeannette council is set to accept the resignation of its foreman Thursday after six months on the job.
Ed Cycak III started work with the city in November. He tendered his resignation April 27.
“Working for the City of Jeannette has been a wonderful experience that has afforded me many valuable opportunities to learn and grow, and I am grateful to have been part of this organization,” he said in a resignation letter.
Cycak worked with Rich Ault for a couple months learning the ropes at the public works and sanitation departments before Ault’s retirement. Council re-hired Ault last month in a part-time foreman role to lead the departments.
He is being paid $35 per hour.
A motion to terminate Cycak appeared on the April agenda, but council did not take any action on it, according to Solicitor Tim Witt. It was unclear how long he’s been off the job.
“He’s looking at other opportunities,” Witt said.
Ault’s hire is a temporary move while council decides how to fill the role permanently.
