Irwin borough council will see two new members join two reelected incumbents, based on unofficial results from Tuesday’s election.

One newly appointed incumbent failed to win a full term.

Councilman Tyler Baum, a Republican, led all candidates with 23.6 of the vote in his bid for a second four-year term on council. Cody Karch, the lone Democrat running for council, followed with 20.9% of the vote, while Republican John Slivka Jr. received 19.4% of the vote. Both Karch and Slivka were running for council for the first time.

Councilman Frank Rossi, a Republican seeking his third term on council, received 18.7% of the vote.

Councilwoman Fonda Dalbow, appointed to council in July, narrowly lost her bid for a full term on the board, garnering 17.6% of the vote. Dalbow, a Republican, was just 29 votes shy of Rossi’s 484 votes. She was appointed in July to fill the remainder of Ron Romeo’s term, which expires at the end of the year.

Mayor Jeff Clem was unopposed in his bid for a second term.

In North Irwin, three candidates were on the ballot for four seats carrying four-year terms: Robert Kennedy, Thomas Youngworth and Sharon Ziros.

The person who will fill the fourth seat likely will come from whomever wins when the Westmoreland County elections bureau counts 15 write-in votes.

North Irwin Mayor John McIntyre did not face any opposition in his bid for reelection.
