Fossil Industries, a high-tech manufacturing company, plans to more than double its footprint in Westmoreland County.
The company — which builds barbecue grills, fireplace components, aftermarket automotive parts and supplies the military — said it plans to build a new 52,000-square-foot facility at the Westmoreland Technology Park II, which is located near New Stanton in Hempfield.
The $228,000 deal, approved this week by the Westmoreland County Industrial Development Corp., calls for the Red Fish LLC, on behalf of Fossil Industries, to buy a nearly six-acre parcel.
“This effort will bring manufacturing capacity and jobs to Westmoreland County and promote manufacturing as a great career for our young people,” said Fossil CEO James Rose.
This year, Fossil built a 41,000-square-foot advanced manufacturing facility on an adjacent parcel in the same industrial park.
The new expansion project is expected to add five salaried employees and up to 20 hourly workers within three years. Officials said Fossil also plans to expand its existing building in the coming years.
With this agreement, nearly half of the industrial park’s 92 acres has been sold or leased for development since 2020.
“Given how important the manufacturing industry is to Westmoreland County, we’re excited that an advanced manufacturer is able to expand so quickly after opening its doors,” county Commissioner Sean Kertes said.
