5 things to do in Westmoreland this weekend: Sept. 27-29

Had a tough week? There are some nifty events and activities in Westmoreland County this weekend to relieve your stress. Fall festivals abound, and there’s a variety of other things to do:

Civic Society Harvest Festival

Join the Southwest Greensburg Civic Society in celebrating the season with a Harvest Festival this Saturday. The event will feature food, raffles, music and a cornhole tournament (registration is closed, but the public can watch the competition).

There also will be activities just for kids, who are encouraged to bring a bag or bucket for candy and prizes. The festival will go from 4 to 8 p.m. at the Civic Society Building, 424 Brandon St.

Rocky Bleier Lecture at Live Casino

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back and Super Bowl champion Rocky Bleier will give a 60-minute talk Friday at Live Casino Pittsburgh in Hempfield.

Bleier will reflect on his humble beginnings, his Army career and his time with the winning Steelers team. There will be a Q&A after his talk. Tickets are $35 each for the event, which will be at 7 p.m. at the casino, 5260 US-30. For tickets and information, visit pittsburgh.livecasinohotel.com.

A Purr-fectly Wicked Market

Caffeinated Cat Cafe is hosting this first-of-its-kind event to benefit Wayward Animal Rescue. The event will include a number of spooky and witchy vendors with their wares, from food and drink to crystals and more. There also will be psychics and tarot readers to reveal your fortune.

‘Misery’ at Theatre Factory

Stephen King fans can enjoy this stage adaptation of the 1987 horror novel (which was adapted into a 1990 film) this weekend. The Theatre Factory is producing “Misery,” directed by David Nackman.

The play follows an author who gets into an accident and is revived by a superfan of his work — but superfandom has obviously evolved into obsession, and things get scary fast.

Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trafford Performing Arts Center, 235 Cavitt Ave., Trafford. For tickets, visit thetheatrefactory.com.

SoulShine: An Allman Brothers Experience

Bring back the ’70s with SoulShine, a grop of musicians committed to embodying the spirit of the Allman Brothers Band. Known for their amazing live performances, the Allman Brothers Band’s hits include “Ramblin’ Man,” “Melissa” and “Ain’t Wastin’ Time No More.”
