If everyone gets through Friday the 13th, there’s still plenty of weekend left to get out and about. Here are some happenings to brighten up the days ahead:

Hispanic heritage celebration

Observe Hispanic Heritage Month with The Westmoreland Museum of American Art on Sunday. The museum is open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The museum will have an array of cultural activities.

The free event will include flamenco dancing from Flamenco Pittsburgh, vibrant music, delicious food from the Vaya Food Truck and airbrush tattoos.

Also, there will be an art display by artist Emily Flores and other family-friendly art activities to highlight traditions and culture. The Westmoreland is at 221 N. Main St., Greensburg. To preregister, visit thewestmoreland.org or call 888-718-4253.

‘The Addams Family’ musical

As the creepy, kooky, mysterious and spooky time of year approaches, get in the spirit of the season with this fun musical, presented by Westmoreland Performing Arts.

There will be performances at 7:30 p.m. on Friday and Saturday at the Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg. In this show, a grown-up Wednesday Addams puts her family in the middle of a culture clash when she falls in love with a “normal” guy. It’s a great time for fans of the iconic goth family or newcomers.

Tickets are $20-$40 for both performances. Get yours at thepalacetheatre.org.

Glass City Heritage Festival

Pop on over to Jeannette on Saturday for a fun autumn festival. The event will last from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the 400 and 500 blocks of Clay Avenue.

From noon to 2 p.m., attendees can watch glass-blowing demonstrations. In addition, there will be pottery wheel and Bob Ross painting demonstrations. For activities, participate in pumpkin painting and cornhole. Face-painting, caricatures and balloon animals also will be available.

A lineup of music will be heard throughout the afternoon, and there will be raffles and giveaways, along with food and beverages for purchase. Get details at cityofjeannette.com.

ImPRESSions art exhibit

Greensburg Art Center is joining with Pittsburgh Print Group for this fascinating new exhibition. Members of both groups will show off printmaking works in the show, which will run from Saturday to Oct. 19.

This Saturday, the Greensburg Art Center will hold an opening reception from 6 to 8 p.m. It will include food, drinks and a ceremony to award a number of prizes to artworks in the show.

The Art Center is at 230 Todd School Road, Hempfield. Visit greensburgartcenter.org.

YWCA Used Bookstore Children’s Fair

Help kids meet their reading goals as the school year swings into gear. The YWCA will hold a children’s fair on Saturday bursting with cool stuff for kids to do.

Thanks to the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg, children can participate in craft stations, face-painting, outdoor games and a story time. There will also be meet-and-greets with two local authors, as well as snacks for guests. And each child will receive a complimentary book from the YWCA Used Bookstore.

The event will be held at the YWCA at 424 N. Main St., Greensburg. Check out more at ywcawestmoreland.org.
