The nights are really starting to get chilly in Western Pennsylvania. Whether it’s to enjoy the crisp weather or just try to avoid firing up the furnace, here are some things to do out and about this weekend.

Fort Ligonier Days

Commemorate the 266th anniversary of a pivotal battle in the French and Indian War on Friday, Saturday and Sunday. This fall festival has something for everyone to enjoy — not just the history buffs.

In addition to the top-notch battle reenactments, visitors can sample delicious food and spirits, dance to live music and check out a crafts show. A Grand Parade will march down East and West Main Streets in Ligonier starting at 11 a.m. Saturday, and visitors on all three days can explore the exhibits at Fort Ligonier.

Beatles tribute

On Saturday, Beatles tribute band Hard Day’s Night will bring their show to the Lamp Theatre in Irwin. Concentrating on being accurate — down to every note and clothing stitch — the four performers portraying John, Paul, George and Ringo will rock the house.

The band has been touring since 1996 and even its instruments are authentic. Tickets for Saturday’s 8 p.m. show are $31. The concert will be held at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin. To get tickets, visit lamptheatre.org.

Hobgoblin Hike

Explore the spooky woods of Westmoreland County with Hobgoblin Hikes. This Saturday’s hike will take place from 7 to 9 p.m. at Northmoreland Park.

Hikes are about a half-mile and are recommended for those 8 and older. They’ll feature mazes, cemeteries and plenty of creepy ghouls and goblins. Participants are encouraged to dress in their Halloween costumes!

The hikes are free and will go on rain or shine. To learn more, visit westmorelandcountypa.gov.

Irwin Touch-A-Truck

Bring the kiddos out Saturday to learn about first responders and get the chance to see some big, cool firetrucks.

Speaking of trucks, food trucks will stop by to provide tasty bites while all ages explore emergency vehicles and meet vital first responders. Personnel will give demonstrations, as well. This is a great opportunity to learn more about how and what our emergency professionals do.

The event will be held noon to 3 p.m. in the parking lot of Transitions Healthcare North Huntingdon, 8850 Barnes Lake Road, Irwin. Learn more at facebook.com/transitionshealthcareofnorthhuntingdon.

Bushy Run open house

Time to soak up some of the stunning fall foliage at the recently-renovated Bushy Run Battlefield Museum. From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, check out the battlefield and museum, and also don’t miss the photography contest. Photos taken on that day and sent in to Bushy Run Battlefield will be entered. There will also be food, pumpkin decorating and more.

Bushy Run Battlefield is at 1253 Bushy Run Road in Penn Township. Get more into the history at bushyrunbattlefield.com.
