A Jeannette police officer was hurt during a tense situation Sunday in which a man pulled out a loaded gun as authorities were investigating a domestic incident, according to court papers.

City police were called to a South Fourth Street apartment around 3:30 p.m. to resolve a living situation between a man and woman. Robert Raimondo, 56, of Hempfield, who identified himself as the landlord where the incident was taking place, told authorities that the man involved in the domestic was not supposed to be there, according to court papers.

Raimondo is listed as the property owner in county records.

While police were talking with the woman involved in the domestic, Raimondo and the man got into an argument and the man claimed that Raimondo had a gun, according to court papers. As officers were attempting to separate the two, police said Raimondo pulled a handgun out of his pants.

Officers tackled Raimondo and handcuffed him. Police said they found the gun, which was loaded, lying nearby. One of the officers sustained a couple cuts and was treated at the scene by Mutual Aid.

Raimondo is charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, resisting arrest and disorderly conduct. He did not have an attorney listed in online court records. He was being held at the Westmoreland County Prison on $100,000 bail. An Aug. 4 preliminary hearing is set.
