Greensburg police are asking the public’s help identifying a shoeless thief who jumped into a woman’s SUV as she was pumping gas Tuesday and drove away.

Police said the theft occurred just before noon at the Sunoco/7-Eleven store on Mt. Pleasant Street.

Lt. Jason Gain said the owner of the gold Subaru Outback was pumping gas when an unidentified man jumped in it and drove away.

“There were no injuries,” Gain said.

The vehicle has a Pennsylvania registration LNY 5617.

Police said the SUV was last seen in the area of Route 119 and Lynch Field.

The man is described as Black, with a full beard, approximately 5-feet 9-inches tall, wearing a red shirt, black sweat pants and blue socks.

Police released a surveillance photograph of the suspect Tuesday afternoon on the department’s Facebook page.

Anyone with information is asked to call 911 or police at 724-834-3800.
