If you haven’t made it to the Greensburg Night Market yet, this week is the time to go.

The season’s final event will be 5:30-9 p.m. Thursday on South Pennsylvania Avenue behind the Westmoreland County Courthouse.

At least 44 vendors will be present, said organizer Jessica Hickey, founder of the Downtown Greensburg Project.

Vendors typically offer an array of fresh produce, cut flowers, plants, honey, local meats and liquors, salsas and dips and assorted other artisan products.

It was a good year for the market, which is held monthly from May through September.

“For the first couple, we had between 3,000 and 4,000 people go through each night,” Hickey said. “August (attendance) was a little down, because it was the first day of school for Hempfield, and it was 90 degrees out.”

But if you miss this week’s market, there will be more shopping opportunities at the Greensburg Holiday Market, to be held at the same location from noon-4 p.m. Oct. 31, Nov. 21 and Dec. 19.

“We’ll have a lot of our staple vendors, but we’ll definitely have some new vendors, too,” Hickey said. “We try to mix it up.”

There will be about 10 to 15 new vendors on each date, and the focus will shift to include gift items and foods suitable for gift-giving or serving at holiday parties, she said.

Among new vendors confirmed for the holiday markets are:

The Doormat Co., selling trendy and custom doormats

Maria Noel Design Co., offering illustrated Christmas cards and handmade wrapping paper

Clearly Chunky, with hand-knitted chunky blankets, pillows and blanket ladders.

“(The wrapping paper) is really beautiful, so I’m really excited about that,” Hickey said. “And I can’t wait to get one of the chunky blankets for myself.”

The holiday markets also will have a tent offering crafts and games for children. Dog are not allowed on the market site.

Interested vendors can submit an application on the Downtown Greensburg Project website.
