A 64-year-old Greensburg man was arrested by state police Friday after he was accused of raping and repeatedly sexually assaulting a girl over five years in the 1990s and sexually assaulting another girl during the same time period, according to court records.

Morton W. Thomson Jr., 64, was arraigned on charges of rape, aggravated indecent assault, endangering the welfare of children, indecent assault and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse in connection with the first case that allegedly occurred over a six-year period between 1996 and 2002.

The woman, who is now an adult, recently told state police Trooper Shane McClelland that the assaults began when she was about age 7 and continued until she was 12.

The second female told troopers that she was assaulted in 1999 when she was 6 years old.

Thomson was arraigned on charges of indecent assault on a child less than 13 years old and endangering the welfare of children in that case.

The assaults were alleged to have taken place in East Huntingdon and Derry townships.

The cases were filed before Derry District Judge Kelly Tua Hammers, who ordered Thomson held in the county prison after he failed to post $50,000 bond.

According to online court dockets, Thomson has no prior criminal record in Pennsylvania.

He did not have an attorney listed in court documents. A preliminary hearing is scheduled June 8.
