A Greensburg couple is accused of leaving their 3-year-old daughter alone in an apartment with a gun and marijuana within reach, according to court papers.

Shayna Ann Barner and Patrick Anthony Brundidge told police they had left their child alone in their apartment in the morning and again in the afternoon Wednesday after a neighbor called authorities to check on the child.

A loaded gun was left under a pillow in the apartment, and other firearms and ammunition were scattered around the home, according to court papers. Marijuana, a lighter and cigars were laying out in plain sight, police said.

Barner told police the guns belonged to Brundidge and his brother. She said on March 21, Brundidge brought his brother to the apartment, and the two argued about his presence. Brundidge drove Barner to work the next day at 8 a.m., and the two left their child at home because she was sleeping, Barner said.

Both are charged with endangering the welfare of children.
