Greater Latrobe School District has changed its student meal distribution schedule and grading process as the statewide coronavirus-driven closure of schools continues indefinitely.
The district consolidated distribution of Grab-and-Go meals for students from every weekday to Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays while schools remain closed. Multiple meals will be provided from 11 a.m. to noon during distribution days at Latrobe Elementary School.
In a March 30 letter posted on the district website, Superintendent Georgia Teppert announced that grading for students in grades 3-12 will be changed to pass/fail for the fourth quarter of the 2019-20 school year.
“As we continue online instruction, this grading strategy will assist students by reducing anxiety around academic performance and will assist our teachers in providing the greatest flexibility around assessing students’ learning,” Teppert wrote, adding that it is “based on the best interest of our students.”
Musical refunds
Those who bought tickets to the high school musical “Mamma Mia!” but were unable to attend during its March 13-15 run are being directed to a page on the district website for detailed instructions for seeking a refund: glsd.us/domain/39.
