A 41-year-old man was killed Saturday in a one-vehicle crash just off Route 22 at the Route 217 exit ramp in Indiana County, according to Blairsville police.

Jeffrey M. Detore of Twin Rocks, Cambria County, and formerly of Jeannette, died in the crash that was reported to Indiana County dispatchers about 6:30 a.m. Saturday, according to borough patrolman David Romagnoli.

Romagnoli reported that county Coroner Jerry Overman’s office pronounced Detore dead at the scene.

According to police, Detore was westbound on Route 22 when the Toyota Camry he was driving exited the roadway, struck a medial area and guardrail, before becoming airborne and landed in a nearby wooded area.

“We believe the crash actually occurred sometime earlier, overnight,” Romagnoli said.

Romagnoli reported that firefighters from Blairsville and Black Lick and paramedics from Citizens’ Ambulance also were called.

Toxicology tests by the coroner’s office are pending.

Mason-Gelder Funeral Home Inc. in Jeannette is in charge of arrangements.
