A Jeannette woman will serve up to nine years in prison for a failed attempt to fill a forged prescription last year at a New Kensington pharmacy.
Erica Eisaman, 39, pleaded guilty in February to a felony charge of forging a prescription for 90 hydrocodone pills, prosecutors said. She also pleaded guilty to unrelated offenses for the theft of a car in North Huntingdon and the burglary of a friend’s home in Jeannette.
Westmoreland County Common Pleas Court Judge Scott Mears this week ordered Eisaman to serve 4 1/2 to 9 years in prison, a sentence he said was in the mitigated range of state guidelines. The judge said the reduced sentence was based on Eisaman’s mental health issues and drug additions. She received concurrent sentences for the theft and burglary cases.
According to court records, Eisaman forged her doctor’s name on a blank prescription on June 10, 2019. Police said both an office manager and the doctor confirmed that it was not his signature.
Nine days earlier, Eisaman stole a friend’s car after he agreed to drive her to Turtle Creek, prosecutors said. The man claimed Eisaman drove off in the vehicle after he went inside his home to get gas money for the trip.
Police said a day earlier, on May 31, Eisaman broke into another man’s home and stole a wallet and debit card that was used to purchase $692 of items from gas stations in Unity and Jeannette and Walmart stores in Latrobe, Hempfield and North Huntingdon. According to court records, Eisaman said she purchased those items to trade for drugs.
