Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole Ziccarelli is planning her second Law Enforcement Memorial Service on May 18 at St. Clair Park in Greensburg.
The public is invited to attend the noon event that will honor Westmoreland County police officers who have died in the line of duty since 1903. The service will include remarks and speeches from local dignitaries, a roll call of fallen officers and a flyover by state police.
Police departments from around the county also will be on hand to pay their respects.
During the 2022 service, 27 law enforcement officers were honored during an event attended by a couple hundred people and police. Families of the 27 fallen officers and members of their departments placed flowers in a basket as their names were read.
This year’s event coincides with National Police Week, which was established in 1962, according to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund.
