No injuries were reported in a fire early Wednesday that damaged the Dollar General store in New Stanton, according to borough fire Chief Rob Cammarata.

The fire was reported at 4:53 a.m. at the store at 115 W. Pennsylvania Ave. and multiple area fire departments responded, Cammarata said.

“We got it out pretty quick, but we were there for about an hour and a half,” Cammarata said.

The fire was contained an area around a cooler in the store, he said.

“We believe it was caused by an electrical malfunction,” he said.

A damage estimate was not available.

An employee at the store said it would remain closed today due to fire damage.
