Dunkin', renovated public works building headed to Youngwood

A new Dunkin’ and renovated public works building could be in store for Youngwood in 2023.

During Wednesday’s borough council meeting, the council approved signatures on the land development plans for Dunkin’. The quick-service restaurant could arrive in the borough this summer, borough Manager Diane Schaefer said.

This will be Youngwood’s first Dunkin’.

It’s slated to be located between Third and Fourth streets near Hillis Street in a plot of land that formerly housed a home and trucking company business. The 7-Eleven is located two doors down.

Talks about opening the doughnut and coffee chain in the borough began at least a year ago, Schaefer said.

“It’s been a lengthy process,” she said. “We are excited to have Dunkin’ come to Youngwood Borough.”

This week’s meeting also saw the council approve Gibson-Thomas Engineering’s request to complete a site plan and survey for the proposed public works building renovation.

The borough needs to update the older building to meet the public works department’s needs, Schaefer explained.

The project, which will not exceed $11,000, will add fencing, security and storage space.

If all goes as planned, the borough hopes renovations will be complete in six months, Schaefer said.
