Downtown Latrobe gets tropical with Flamingo Bingo
Downtown Latrobe will be pretty in pink Wednesday for Flamingo Bingo Shop Hop Night. Festivities will start at 4 p.m. in the Latrobe Parklet located at the corner of Main and Ligonier Streets.
Emily Pasqualino, founder of Latrobe Shop Hop Nights, will be DJing, leaning on Caribbean and reggae music to match the theme. Legend’s Caribbean Grill, a Johnstown based restaurant, will be serving food in the parklet.
“A lot of our shop hops are popular,” Pasqualino said. “We don’t have one in January, December or July. The Flamingo Bingo is popular because it feels like a summer party downtown.”
Twelve shops and restaurants, including The Paper Heart, Rose Style Shoppe and Terri’s Gourmet Sweet Treats, will be participating.
During the night guests will visit any participating location and look for a displayed bingo letter. Once players complete their bingo cards, they will submit them to the Shop Hop information table in the downtown Latrobe Parklet by the end of the event at 7 p.m. A drawing will be done from the submitted bingo cards on Aug. 3 to name a winner of a flamingo themed prize basket including two tickets to the Yellow Tie Gala, an annual yellow-themed event on Aug. 25.
“We have some good prizes and I think people have incentive to play,” Pasqualino. “It’s just a fun summer party downtown and we really hope people will come out if they can make it.”
Throughout the night select stores will have special sales and guests can participate in a limbo contest for small prizes that fit the theme of the night and 50/50 raffle.
