Vendors are being sought for this year’s night and holiday markets in Greensburg.

The monthly Greensburg Night Market runs from April through September. The Greensburg Holiday Market is scheduled for Oct. 30, Nov. 27 and Dec. 18.

The Downtown Greensburg Project is accepting applications through Feb. 25.

“We’ve had really good success,” said Jessica Hickey, founder of Downtown Greensburg Project. “This is going to be our fourth year of the market. … Last year, we averaged 3,500 to 4,000 people … coming to the market. It’s definitely grown pretty quickly in the last couple of years.”

Hickey first started hosting the markets in 2019. That year, three dates were hosted on Pennsylvania Avenue in conjunction with the Westmoreland Cultural Trust’s TGIS Concert Series and three at the Westmoreland Museum of American Art. In 2020, the market stayed on Pennsylvania Avenue.

Several precautions were taken that year as the covid-19 pandemic spread across the region, including hand sanitizing stations, no product sampling and social distancing. The start date for the market was also pushed back to plan for the safety guidelines required during the pandemic.

This year, officials added an April market. They are also looking to expand the event while increasing the number of vendors, although specific details were not immediately available.

“I decided let’s add a market and do April because the weather should be good enough for that,” Hickey said.

Hickey is expecting around 200 vendor applications. Last year, up to 150 applications were submitted, Hickey said.

“I get messages and emails and phone calls during market season almost daily,” she said. “We get a lot of questions and people coming up to me at markets giving me business cards.”

Vendors typically include local artisans, farmers and makers selling fresh produce and other goods.

Those who apply will be notified by March 5 of whether they are accepted. Direct-sales vendors will not be accepted.
