Derry Township man arrested by troopers after accusations of inappropriately touching 3 children, woman
Calls made to the state’s child abuse hotline resulted in the arrest Friday of a Derry Township man by state police on accusations of sexually abusing a former township resident and three children in 2019.
John M. Coiner, 58, was charged with three counts each of corruption of minors, indecent assault of a person less than 13 years old and indecent exposure; two counts of indecent assault; and one count of harassment.
According to state police Trooper Daniel Pickard of the Kiski station, the adult female reported to investigators that when she was temporarily residing at Coiner’s residence on Campbell Road in 2019 she awoke to find Coiner exposing himself and inappropriately touching her.
Pickard said during the course of the investigation troopers also received reports of Coiner inappropriately touching and exposing himself to the three juveniles at his home between June and August in 2019. Pickard said that forensic interviews with child welfare specialists were completed during the investigation.
In a subsequent interview, Pickard said, Coiner admitted inappropriately touching the woman and three children.
Pickard said Coiner told investigators that the incident with the woman occurred “when he was intoxicated.”
According to court dockets, Coiner has no prior criminal record in Pennsylvania.
Coiner was arraigned Friday and released on $20,000 unsecured bond pending a preliminary hearing April 13. He could not be reached for comment.
