A Delmont man pleaded guilty Tuesday to the sexual assault of a teenage girl, months after he was sentenced to house arrest and probation for a similar offense against another juvenile in 2022.
Dezhane Markel Emm Amey, 24, will be eligible for parole in early October after he was ordered to serve nine to 23 months in jail in connection with allegations he had sex with a second minor over a six-month period two years ago. Amey pleaded guilty to a felony charge of statutory sexual assault and indecent assault of a child.
Police contend Amey worked as a supervisor at a Delmont-area fast food restaurant and had an intimate relationship with a 15-year-old employee. The victim and her family earlier this year sued the now former owners of the Salem McDonald’s location where they allegedly worked together.
According to court records, the teen claimed she and Amey had sex in the restaurant bathroom, at his home and in his car.
“This man had held an upper position as manager and used it to take advantage of a minor child,” the teen’s mother testified during the guilty plea hearing. “He took this child off the premises and to his home; he made open threats to cause harm if she talked about it. I am fearful for other children.”
The judge also ordered Amey to serve one additional year on probation and to register for the next 25 years as a convicted sex offender.
Amey has been in jail since February.
Assistant District Attorney Cassidy Hatten said the negotiated plea deal approved by Westmoreland County Common Pleas Judge Tim Krieger took into consideration Amey’s involvement in another case for which he pleaded guilty to in January and resulted in a two-year probation sentence that included nine months of house arrest.
In that case, prosecutors said Amey had sexual relations with another teen, which was discovered by her mother after reviewing cellphone text messages. Those crimes occurred before the case Amey pleaded guilty to Tuesday.
Amey’s house-arrest sentence will begin after he is paroled, the judge said.
