Water rescue crews on Saturday found the missing pickup truck that officials believed had sunk in Loyalhanna Creek during heavy rainfall the night before, officials said.

Authorities located the car and determined there were no related injuries, a Westmoreland County 911 shift commander said shortly after 8 p.m. Saturday.

Officials from at least two fire companies and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers spent about five hours searching for the vehicle on Friday night and resumed the search on Saturday morning. Crews looked for the vehicle until nearly midnight, but didn’t find anything.

The Saltsburg and Tunnelton-Conemaugh volunteer fire departments provided rescue boats to help.

A spokesperson could not immediately be reached for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, which led the investigation.

Murrysville Medic One divers assisted in recovering the truck in the creek near New Alexandria and posted photographs of the recovery effort on its Facebook page.

Authorities reported that state police are investigating.

It’s unclear exactly how and when crews found the missing vehicle. A 911 dispatcher had said that Army Corps officials still were dealing with the situation into early Saturday afternoon.
