The ex-wife of an 80-year-old Derry Township man was arrested Tuesday for using a credit line and bank accounts to defraud him of $17,464 since August, state police allege.

Theresa L. Kinney, 48, of White Township, Indiana County, was arrested by state police at Kiski on charges of theft, access device fraud and conspiracy.

Trooper Paige Shreffler said Kinney’s ex-husband, Robert, reported this spring he discovered 152 separate transactions made on an Amazon.com account in his name.

“Robert Kinney did not authorize the purchases,” Shreffler wrote in the complaint filed before Derry District Judge Mark Bilik.

Police said they connected Theresa Kinney to the fraudulent purchases through the delivery of the Amazon packages and gift cards sent to her home address outside of Indiana Borough, her daughter’s residence in North Carolina, and her employment address at a Sunoco service station-convenience store in Greensburg.

Shreffler said during an interview, Theresa Kinney admitted she made the fraudulent purchases on Amazon. She told police Amazon sent her notification her account was being closed “for fraudelent activity.”

Shreffler said the Kinneys have been divorced for about five years.

Theresa Kinney could not be reached for comment. An attorney was not listed in court documents.

She was released on recognizance bond pending a preliminary hearing June 26 before Bilik.
