A 26-year-old North Huntingdon woman was arrested Monday after police said she used a 13-year-old girl as an accomplice in the attempted theft of multiple pieces of dog clothing from Walmart.
Sarah A. Moore was arraigned before night court District Judge Tony Bompiani on charges of corruption of minors and retail theft in connection with the alleged theft attempt at the Mills Drive store.
Police said Moore and the teen were at a self-checkout counter where Moore was observed scanning one item, “but then placing multiple items of merchandise in a bag as if she scanned all of the items.”
Store security told police Moore handed the shopping bag to the teenager who was stopped as she attempted to leave the store with the $65 worth of dog clothing.
Township Officer Thomas Harris reported it is Moore’s third retail theft offense. She was charged with a felony and released on $10,000 unsecured bond.
The teenager was released to the custody of a relative and will be cited in juvenile court, police said.
Moore has an unlisted telephone number and an attorney was not listed in court records.
