State representative and former Murrysville mayor Bob Brooks filed for reelection in the House’s 54th District.
He will host a petition signing kick-off event from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Jan. 28 in Murrysville.
“When I ran for state representative two years ago, I pledged to focus on people, not politics, and I have done just that,” Brooks said. “Working with like-minded legislators, we unanimously passed my commonsense legislation in the state House to assist and grow volunteers among the ranks of emergency first responders. We worked together to promote economic development and local jobs by supporting legislation to improve career and technical education and help support and preserve Pennsylvania’s agriculture heritage.”
Brooks has two district offices, in Murrysville and Lower Burrell, and is represented weekly at the West Deer Senior Center.
“Supporting local volunteer fire departments, veteran organizations, senior citizen centers and other volunteer and charitable organizations has been an important part of my life, and I look forward to continuing this help in the years to come,” he said.
Brooks also donated his legislative salary to local charities and volunteer organizations.
“I am running for reelection because state government is still far from transparent and efficient, and there is more to do in order to improve the lives of residents across Pennsylvania,” he said in a news release.
The petition signing event will be at the Sardis Fire Hall, 5205 Rock Hill Lane, Murrysville.
Brooks won election to the state House in 2018 following former 54th District State Rep. Eli Evankovich’s decision not to seek reelection.
