Breast cancer fundraiser, 5K planned in Mt. Pleasant
The Mt. Pleasant Business District Authority is gearing up to host a day of awareness and support for a local breast cancer research organization.
The cheekily-named “Breast Saturday Ever” event will return this year for its second iteration as a day to “stroll, shop, and support” in honor of breast cancer survivors and patients.
The Business District Authority will be partnering with Denise DeSabato of StukUp Grafix and Valerie Tressler of Val’s Family Styles to host the community event on Oct. 21.
As part of the day’s festivities, the Breast Saturday Ever 5K Color Run/Walk will have visitors to run, walk or jog for the cause.
Funds from the run will go to A Glimmer Of Hope Foundation, a Pittsburgh-area breast cancer nonprofit founded in 1994. It gathers funds for breast cancer research, programs and medical technology.
Participants can sign up for the run at mountpleasantbda.com. The Business District Authority hopes to register 250 people for the event, which starts at 9:30 a.m. and will be 3.2 miles in distance.
In addition to the run, free coffee, music at the town Diamond and activities hosted by local businesses, along with donation stations for people to support A Glimmer of Hope, will be available on the day of the event.
