The roof of an East Huntingdon business park will be replaced through an $8 million low-interest loan.

The roof is leaking in several places of the 2-million-square-foot site that previously housed the Sony plant, according to state Rep. Justin Walsh. The building is being repurposed by RIDC Westmoreland to house multiple tenants.

Funding is through the Business in Our Sites program by the Commonwealth Financing Authority.

“This new roof will make the property more marketable and draw further interest,” Walsh, R-Rostraver, said in a statement.

More than 1,000 people work at the park. Tenants include envelope manufacturer Cenveo, Siemens and Westmoreland County Community College’s Advanced Technology Center for workforce-development programs.
