5 things to do this weekend in Westmoreland County: March 15-17
Luck is in the air. With a certain Irish-centered holiday being the talk of the town, community groups will be hosting celebrations all over town this weekend in Westmoreland.
‘Rhythm of the Dance’
Marking the 20th anniversary of the dance company, “Rhythm of the Dance: The National Dance Company of Ireland” will take the stage at 4 p.m. Sunday at The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg.
The 2-hour show has hit 50 countries around the world during the past 20 years celebrating the dance, music, songs and culture from pre-Celtic times while maintaining a modern sound.
Ticket prices range from $48 to $68, and can be purchased at thepalace theatre.org.
Art on Tap
On Friday at 7 p.m. The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg, will be “painting the town green” with live music, specialty cocktails, beer and food. The event will feature a “pot o’ gold” scavenger hunt, an Irish coffee and green matcha bar hosted by the local Steep Mountain Tea shop, raffles, a specialty bar and games.
Guests are encouraged to wear green to receive a special scratch off lottery ticket with chances to win prizes.
The event is for people 21 years and older. Tickets are $12 for members and $15 for nonmembers. For more, call 888-718-4253.
Irwin St. Patrick’s Day event
This Saturday, Irwin will be hosting a family-friendly St. Patrick’s Day event beginning at noon.
The bulk of the festival will take place in downtown Irwin. Restaurants along the strip will offer Irish food specials. The Masonic Hall on Main Street will have children’s games and special guest St. Patrick will be there handing out rubber snakes and green beads to the first 100 children who visit him.
A mime and a balloon sculptor will be stationed at Gift Basket World, and a caricature artist will be at the Feather Artist Market. Guests will also be able to participate in the shop’s paint-your-own shamrock station. There will be a shamrock scavenger hunt throughout the festival. Streets will remain open during the festival and parking will be free.

Seven Dolors Parish ‘Spring Souper’
Members of the Seven Dolors Parish, 102 Center St., Yukon, will host a “Spring Souper” fundraiser from noon to 1:30 p.m. Sunday. Most of the action will be in the church social hall on Center Street. Different types of soups, sandwiches and desserts will be served. A basket raffle and 50-50 raffle will take place throughout the event.

Lucky Ladies Drag Brunch
Live Casino, 5260 Route 30, Hempfield, will be starting the St. Patrick’s Day party early with a themed drag brunch. At 10 a.m., guests will be welcomed to the Sports and Social Steel City section of the casino to join a celebration with performances, themed cocktails and brunch food. Queens from Sad Brunch entertainment agency will begin performing at 11 a.m. There will be a mix of comedy, conversation and dancing. .
