There are plenty of festive things to do in Westmoreland County this weekend to foster the holiday spirit as Christmas approaches.

The Westmoreland Museum of American Art: Cantilever Tours

The Westmoreland on North Main Street in Greensburg will continue its series of free tours from 1 to 2 p.m. Saturday.

Museum guides will lead guests through the special exhibits. This Saturday, people can tour Frank Lloyd Wright’s Southwestern Pennsylvania on view in the Cantilever Gallery.

A Christmas Story: The Musical

A musical version of the 1983 film “A Christmas Story,” the last show of The Palace Theatre’s 2023 season, will be presented by Westmoreland Performing Arts on Friday and Saturday. The show will feature music and lyrics written by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul, and from the book by Joseph Robinette.

Like the classic movie, the musical takes place in the 1940s in Indiana and focuses on a child named Ralphie, who wants a Red Ryder BB Gun for Christmas.

Tickets are $12.50 for children and $22.50 for adults. The theater is located at 21 W. Otterman St. in Greensburg. For more, visit thepalacetheatre.org.

‘National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation’ at The Lamp Theatre

The Lamp Theatre on Main Street in Irwin will be hosting a special triple showing of the 1989 “National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation” on Saturday.

Viewers can enjoy the Griswolds deal with visiting family members and holiday preparations gone hilariously awry at 4 p.m., 6 p.m. and 8:20 p.m.. Admission is $10 per person.

Green Beacon Gallery Festivus Festival

Green Beacon Gallery on West Pittsburgh Street in Greensburg is hosting a Festivus Festival from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Saturday.

Guests are invited to the gallery for white elephant gift exchange, and Airing of Grievances activity, feats of strength and five rounds of the Quizzler’s trivia. Guests 21 and older are welcome to bring their favorite alcohol to enjoy during the event.

All gallery artwork will be on display and available for purchase. Admission is free but donations are accepted.

Breakfast with Santa

Community members are welcome to come see Santa Claus and wish him good luck before his big trip on Christmas Eve.

The Crabtree Fire Department will be hosting a breakfast buffet from 9 until 11 a.m. Sunday in the social club on Latrobe Crabtree Road. Folks can eat with the big man himself.

Admission is $10 per person, and children age 10 and younger are free. Event hosts request that people register in advance at allevents.in.
