Haunted history

Glowing jack-o’-lanterns will light the way as a ghostly figure welcomes guests to “Hair-Raising History: Frightfully True Stories from the Ligonier Valley,” with tours from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday through Sunday at Compass Inn Museum, 1386 Route 30, Laughlintown.

Storytellers will relate eerie tales of local 19th-century history at the circa-1799 restored stage coach stop, operated by the Ligonier Valley Historical Society.

Tours starting between 6 and 7:15 p.m. will be geared toward families with children. Tours beginning from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. are designed for more mature audiences.

Just a jump to the left

Let’s do the time warp again during audience-participation screenings of “The Rocky Horror Picture Show,” complete with vocalists and a full rock band, set for 8 p.m. and midnight Friday and Saturday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

Attendees are invited to come in costume. The live-action event is presented in conjunction with Split Stage Productions.

Music-filled weekend

Three weekend concerts will bring six musical acts to The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg:

• Almost Queen: A Tribune to Queen, 8 p.m. Friday. The four musicians replicate the classic look and sound of vocalist Freddie Mercury and company. Special guest will be Philadelphia Freedom: A Tribute to Elton John, with Doug Delescavage portraying the piano-playing rocker in his 20s and running through the greatest hits. Tickets are $29-$69.

• The Outlaws with Atlanta Rhythm Section, 7 p.m. Saturday. The two Southern rock legends will bring hits like the former’s “There Goes Another Love Song” and “Green Grass & High Tides” and the latter’s “So Into You” and “Imaginary Lover” to the Greensburg stage. Tickets are $45-$65.

• Dropkick Murphys, 7:15 p.m. Sunday. The Massachusetts-based American-Celtic punk band’s new album is “This Machine Still Kills Fascists,” is its first acoustic effort, composed of unused lyrics and words by Woody Guthrie. Special guest is Americana/folk/rockabilly singer-songwriter Jesse Ahern. Tickets are $39.75-$79.75.

Berry special event

The annual fall open house is set for 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Sand Hill Berries, 304 Deer Field Road, Mt. Pleasant Township.

The event will include live music, self-guided farm walks, artisan vendor market, antique cider press demonstrations, wine tasting and complimentary raspberry sundaes. Food will be available from the on-site cafe and special gourmet food booths.

Spooky sojourn

More than 100 costumed ghouls, goblins and monsters will provide thrills and chills during a Hobgoblin Hike set for 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Northmoreland Park, 280 Markle Road, Allegheny Township.

Recommended for age 8 and older, the half-mile guided tour passes through haunted woods, mazes and cemeteries. Admission is free and the event will be held regardless of weather conditions. Parents are encouraged to attend with children.

No treats are provided, but attendees are invited to come in costume.
