Fall festival
Opening ceremonies for the Penn Township Fall Festival will be at 5:30 p.m. Friday at the Penn Township Municipal Park in Harrison City.
The festival continues through the weekend, with Saturday highlights including a parade at 10:30 a.m. and Zambelli fireworks at 9:30 p.m. A community worship service will start things off Sunday at 11 a.m.
Other features include live music, food, a craft show, vendors and a car cruise, along with pumpkin pie baking contest and chili cook-off with cash prizes.

Flax scutching
The 114th annual Flax Scutching Festival is set for 9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Monticue’s Grove, off Route 711 in Stahlstown.
The festival features demonstrations of flax scutching, the process of making linen from flax fibers, along with homemade food, crafts, antique farm equipment, live Americana music, Civil War and covered wagon train encampments and a depiction of local historical events from the 1700s.
Admission is $5, or free for children 5 and younger. For information, visit flax scutching.org.

Tell me a story
The weekly story time will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday in the children’s department at Barnes & Noble, 5155 Route 30, Hempfield.

Concert series finale
Willow Hill and Michael Christopher will wrap up the Hempfield Park summer concert series with a show at 6 p.m. Saturday in the park amphitheater at 220 Forbes Trail Road.
Willow Hill features the husband-wife duo of C.T. and Alexandra Fields, who play modern country-pop music, and Pittsburgh-based Christopher plays rock-tinged country.
Admission is free; donations are accepted. Attendees should bring their own seating. Food will be available.

Blues master
The Robert Cray Band will take the stage at 7:30 p.m. Saturday at The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St., Greensburg.
The group is led by the acclaimed blues/roots guitarist who was inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame in 2011 and received the Americana Music Lifetime Achievement Award for Performance in 2017.
In a career spanning four decades, Cray has five Grammy Awards and 20 studio albums. His latest release, “That’s What I Heard,” celebrates the music of Curtis Mayfield, Bobby “Blue” Bland, The Sensational Nightingales and others, and also features four new songs.
