Westmoreland Conservancy will host a May 7 watch party for the Eta Aquariids meteor shower at the Morosini Reserve in Murrysville.

Photos and fun

Work by members of the West­moreland Photographers Society will be featured at Art After Hours, from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art, 221 N. Main St., Greensburg.

Photographers will be on hand to meet with guests and discuss photos showing in the museum’s Robertshaw Gallery. The monthly happy hour-style event also features an art scavenger hunt, musical entertainment, light refreshments and libations.

Fee in advance is $12, or $10 for members; flat fee at the door is $15. One drink ticket is included; cash bar also is available.

Books by the bag

Books will be $5 per bag from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday during the annual used book sale at Greensburg Hempfield Area Library, 237 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg.

Sale items include fiction, nonfiction, children’s books, DVDs and books on CD. The sale continues during regular library hours through May 14.

Tribune-Review A May 7 basket raffle hosted by Braddock Trail Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will benefit preservation of the Samuel Warden Mansion in Mt. Pleasant.  

Basket bonanza

Braddock Trail Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution will host a basket raffle from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday in the Kecksburg Fire Hall, 5128 Water St. More than 50 themed baskets will be available, along with a 50-50 raffle.

Each $15 ticket sheet includes admission, 25 basket raffle chances, one door prize chance and refreshments. The kitchen will offer a limited lunch menu for purchase.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m. Ticket- holders must be present to win.

Proceeds benefit preservation of the chapter’s historic Victorian headquarters and genealogical library in Mt. Pleasant.

Sky watch

Westmoreland Conservancy will host a free watch party for the Eta Aquariids meteor shower from 8 p.m. to midnight Saturday at the Morosini Reserve, off Morosini Farm Road in Murrysville. The event will be held weather permitting.

Telescopes will be available for enhanced viewing.

Attendees are invited to bring fixings for s’mores to toast over a small campfire, along with chairs, blankets and insect repellent.

Are you ready for the rant?

Comedian Lewis Black, known for his diatribes on history, politics, religion and contemporary culture, brings his “Off the Rails” tour to Greensburg, for a show at 7:30 p.m. Sunday in The Palace Theatre, 21 W. Otterman St.

Known as the King of Rant, the Grammy Award-winner uses his trademark style of comedic yelling and finger-pointing to expose the hypocrisy, absurdity and insanity he sees in modern life. A longtime contributor to “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, Black has had comedy specials on HBO, Comedy Central, Showtime and Epix. He also has a livestream show called “The Rant is Due.”
