Mother-daughter artwork

An opening reception for “A Little Bit of Everything,” a joint exhibition of paintings by Indiana County artists Jolene Joyner and Jonelle Summerfield, is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. Friday at Latrobe Art Center, 819 Ligonier St.

A former surgical nurse, Joyner is a member of the Indiana Art Association who shows her work in juried exhibitions and local galleries. Her subjects include local rural scenes, cats, still lifes and scenes from her European travels and the beaches she has visited. Summerfield, Joyner’s daughter, has exhibited in Pittsburgh and New York. Her work also is influenced by European travels and her subjects include interiors, street scenes, animals and still lifes.

The exhibition runs through March 26. For information, call 724-537-7011 or visit latrobeartcenter.org.

Classic rock

Corky Laing’s Mountain with the Deep Purple tribute act, Beyond Purple, will play a show beginning at 8 p.m. Friday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

Canadian-born Laing was the longtime drummer for Mountain, a hard rock band known for early 1970s hits like “Mississippi Queen,” “Nantucket Sleighride” and the frequently sampled “Long Red,” along with their 1969 performance at Woodstock.

Tickets are $39. To reserve and for more information, call 724-367-4000 or visit lamptheatre.org.

Whimsical artwork

“Door Sticks Pull Hard,” an exhibition of works by Larry Brandstetter, will open with a reception from noon to 6 p.m. Saturday at You Are Here, 406 Clay Avenue, Jeannette. Featured works include new ink and colored pencil drawings and collages from the Pittsburgh-area artist who specializes in whimsical storybook-style drawings and illustrations.

An artist talk with question-and-answer period is scheduled for 2 p.m. Artworks and reproductions will be available for purchase.

The exhibition continues through April 16 during regular gallery hours, noon-4 p.m. Thursdays and noon-6 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays. For information, call 724-578-3332, email yah406clay@gmail.com or visit yah406clay.org.
