Live at the Lamp

Well, the good ol’ days may not return — but at least live music is back at the Lamp Theatre in Irwin.

At 8 p.m. Friday, The Breakers will take the stage, playing a tribute show to Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Formed in 2018, the group says it cares less about looks and more about delivering the authentic Heartbreakers sound.

“They have paid tireless attention to detail to each and every song which appeals to both casual and diehard Tom Petty fans alike,” according to the band website.

A ticket to the Lamp show is $30.

Stop in for art

“in Life,” artist William Mathie’s exhibition of woodcut, intaglio and letterpress works, will open with a free reception from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at StopWatch Gallery & Studio, 323 S. Main St., Greensburg.

The artist will give a demonstration of mokuhanga, a Japanese woodcut technique that incorporates water-based inks that are brushed onto carved blocks and printed by hand with a baren. Mathie traveled to Japan to learn the process.

Mathie operates a studio in Edinboro and teaches at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania, where he also has served as gallery director and art department chair.

The exhibition will run through July 31.
