Every quilt tells a story

An exhibition of story quilts by Pittsburgh-based fiber artist Tina Williams Brewer is showing through April 24 in the Robertshaw Gallery of The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg.

“Cultivation: Journey of the Work” reflects the artist’s 40-year career through her multilayered quilts that employ symbolism, textiles and fabrics to explore African-American history, generational healing and the spirituality of her culture.

An Art After Hours event from 6-8 p.m. Feb. 25 will include a meet-and-greet with Williams Brewer.

Museum hours are 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Wednesdays-Sundays. Advance online registration is recommended. Admission is free; donations are accepted.

For information, call 724-837-1500 or visit thewestmoreland.org.

The final weekend of the Holiday Lights Extravaganza 2021 will be Friday through Sunday at Living Treasures Animal Park, off Route 711 in Jones Mills.

The event features more than 900,000 bulbs in three light and sound shows and a fountain show. Some animals will be available for petting and feeding. Photo boards also will be situated throughout the park.

Hours are 5-9:30 p.m. Friday and noon-9:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.

Admission is $16, $14 for ages 62 and up, $13 for ages 3-11. Season passes are valid for the event.

‘Hygge’ hike

Hike leaders will discuss how hygge can be incorporated into the outdoor experience during the 2 to 2.5-mile hike.

Participation is free, but registration is required at 724-259-2201 or rmahony@pa.gov. Location and additional information will be provided upon registration.

Another Hygge Hike is scheduled for 10 a.m. Feb. 12.

Chilly and chili

A Chilly Cornhole Tournament is set for 1-4 p.m. Saturday at Greenhouse Winery, 2155 Gracin Lane, Sewickley Township.

The competition will go on whatever the weather. The Revival Chili food truck will be on site, and Evan Dean will provide acoustic music.

Registration is $10.

For reservations, call 724-446-5000. For more information, visit greenhousewinery.com.
