Art-making opportunity

Community members are invited to participate in MadLab work sessions planned for noon to 5 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays through Feb. 19 at Your Are Here gallery, 406 Clay Ave., Jeannette.

MadLab is an art project that creates benches and mosaic planters made of recycled materials to be placed in publicly accessible spaces around Jeannette. Local artists are on hand to supervise the process; no art-making experience is needed.

Participants must be at least 12 years old; those 12 to 18 must be accompanied by an adult. Registration is required for time slots of two hours or longer. All workers get a MadLab T-shirt.

Mad Lab is funded by a grant from the Community Foundation of Westmoreland County.

A fleeting glimpse

Floyd Live, billed as “The Authentic Sound of Pink Floyd,” will take the stage at 8 p.m. Saturday at The Lamp Theatre in Irwin.

The musical tribute ensemble’s website boasts of “a long history of sold-out performances, international TV, live radio/media broadcasts, an intelligent light show employing the use of lasers, fog, projection and a few surprises,” along with an endorsement from Carlo Basile, a promotion manager with EMI, Pink Floyd’s onetime record label.

A ticket is $30 at 724-367-4000 or lamptheatre.org.

It’s dinnertime

Greensburg Restaurant Week wraps up this weekend, with special menus being offered through Sunday at 18 area eateries.

Participating restaurants showcase signature dishes through reduced- or fixed-price menus that may include meals with multiple courses for no more than $35. These specials range from casual lunches to fine dining experiences.

Many restaurants recommend reservations. For a list of participants, menus and other information, visit greensburgrestaurantweek.com.

Reaching their potential

The Reyna Tribe will host “Restore,” a women’s wellness event, from 5:30 to 10 p.m. Sunday at the Aerobic Center at Lynch Field in Greensburg.

Speakers will include registered dietitian Yvonne Mahl and Juliana DeStein, founder of the group that forges connections among women to help them reach their highest potential. The event also will feature light bites, DIY dessert station, activities and prizes.

A portion of the $35 ticket will benefit the Aerobic Center.

Light show last call

It’s the final weekend for Winter Lights at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg. Lights go on nightly from dusk to 10 p.m. The colorful display will go dark after Sunday.

Visitors are invited to experience the Museum’s gardens and grounds in a new way during an illuminated evening stroll. No registration is required to attend.

A Winter Lights Booklet is available in a container near the museum entrance, with wintry art activities to do during the visit or at home. Selfies and other photos taken on-site can be shared on social media using #WinterLightsWestmoreland.
