Read his mind

A few seats remain for a concert by Canadian troubadour Gordon Lightfoot at 8 p.m. Friday at The Palace Theatre in Greensburg.

In a career spanning more than 50 years, the singer/songwriter has produced a string of hits including “If You Could Read My Mind,” “Carefree Highway,” “Sundown,” “The Wreck Of The Edmund Fitzgerald” and “Rainy Day People.”

Tickets are $49.75-$69.75, and an additional $5 at the door.

Fast-paced race

The Westmoreland Fayette Council Boy Scouts of America will host its Pinewood Derby championship Saturday at center court in Westmoreland Mall. Top competitors will race handmade model cars to win division titles.

Laurel Hills District Lions and Tigers will race at 10 a.m., with Cubs following at 12:30 p.m. Bushy Run District Lions and Tigers will race at 3 p.m., with Cubs wrapping up the competition at 5:30 p.m.

Spectators are welcome.

Back to Broadway

The Stage Right Student Company will present “42nd Street Young Performers’ Edition” at 2 and 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 2 p.m. Sunday at The Lamp Theatre, 222 Main St., Irwin.

Based on the Tony Award-winning musical, “42nd Street” follows a starstruck young woman seeking her big break on Broadway.

Local makers and vendors will be present for a mini-market pop-up from noon to 4 p.m. Sunday in the taproom at Invisible Man Brewing, 132 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Greensburg.

Vendors will include Biskit’s Barkery, The Moonlight Mile Apothecary, Mystic Mixtures Potion Bar, The Creamery at Pleasant Lane Farms, Pienetti’s, The Copper Petal and Betty Jane Natural Soaps.

Admission is free.

Art of love

Love-themed activities are planned for Community Day from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at The Westmoreland Museum of American Art in Greensburg. Attendees also can view the paintings and story quilts in the Cantilever Gallery exhibition, “Stephen Towns: Declaration & Resistance.”

The museum’s artist-in-residence, Madame Dolores, will be present to meet with visitors and talk with them about her art.

Admission is free; registration is recommended at 888-718-4253. The museum requests all visitors 2 and older wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status.
