The Pittsburgh Zoo & Aquarium closed Tuesday because of what it described as a water issue, but the facility is expecting to reopen to guests Wednesday, officials said.
The issue was located outside of zoo grounds but was impacting the zoo with “intermittent service,” said Alex Cauley, the zoo’s public relations and media manager. No animals were harmed or affected by the problem.
“Just to be safe for all of our guests … we are just closing the gates for the day,” Cauley told the Tribune-Review.
The zoo expected water service to return to normal sometime Tuesday afternoon, she said.
The zoo plans to reopen at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, with gates closing at 3 p.m. and the zoo closing at 4 p.m. Wednesday.
