A Wingstop restaurant will open in New Kensington’s Riverview Plaza.

New Kensington soon will have a new place for wings.

Mayor Tom Guzzo confirmed that a Wingstop will be coming to the city’s Riverview Plaza, 100 Tarentum Bridge Road.

Signs for the business went up Wednesday.

Wingstop officials did not respond to TribLive requests for comment.

“We’re excited that Wingstop is coming to New Kensington,” Guzzo said. “We’re very pleased that this is another positive step for our revitalization efforts in all of our business districts. Wingstop will be a great addition to the plaza along with Harbor Freight and Starbucks opening soon as well.”

The Wingstop location is between a vape shop and Dollar Tree.

There are more than 2,000 Wingstops worldwide, according to the company’s website. The chicken wing restaurant is based in Texas and opened in 1994.

It’s a revitalization of sorts at the plaza that also houses Staples, Verizon, Rey Azetca, Aldi and Quest Diagnostics, along with the vape shop and Dollar Tree.

The Aldi opened at a former Kmart site in March 2023.

Plans for a Harbor Freight and Starbucks were approved earlier this year as free-standing buildings in the plaza’s parking lot.

Both are under construction. Harbor Freight plans a January opening.
