Tarentum businesses and residents may experience brief water outages over the next two weeks as crews install new water valves throughout the borough.

The project of close to $70,000 is being done by Tarentum Public Works crews in conjunction with Meyer Excavating, Inc.

According to the borough’s website, installation of the nine new valves will enable a more reliable supply of water and greatly assist in reducing the duration of outages should a waterline break occur.

The locations where the new valves will be installed at are First Avenue and Ross Street; First Avenue and Corbet Street; Fourth Avenue and Ross Street; East Seventh Avenue and Corbet Street; Seventh Avenue and Lock Street; West Eighth Avenue and Grantham Street; West 10th Avenue and East Street; and West 11th Avenue and Center Street.

The work is being partially funded by a $32,000 federal Community Development Block Grant.
