Tickets on sale for super bingo fundraiser

A super bingo to benefit the Leechburg 175th Anniversary celebration will be April 13 at West Leechburg Volunteer Firehall, 1116 Gosser St.

Doors open at 12:30 p.m., food will be served at 1:30 p.m. and games will begin at 2:30. Tickets are $35 and include lunch, 16 regular games and four specials. There will be a basket raffle and 50-50 and a $35 cash prize will be drawn between each bingo game. Daubers, extra packets and specials will be sold at the door.

Grief workshop offered by Good Samaritan Hospice

Good Samaritan Hospice, a mission of Concordia Lutheran Ministries, will sponsor a free youth bereavement care workshop “The Art of Healing from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. March 29 at the Middlesex Township office, 116 Browns Hill Road, suite 111.

Children 21 and younger who have lost a loved one are welcome. Attendees will participate in art activities and must be accompanied by an adult. The program is Christian-based but children of all faiths and backgrounds are welcome.

April 5: The drama department of St. Joseph High School will sponsor a bingo fundraiser at 6 p.m. at Patterson Hall at Guardian Angels Parish, 800 Montana Ave. Admission: $5, includes two hot dogs, a bag of chips, cookie and bottle of water. There will be 22 games that will be priced per game from 50 cents to $5 per card, additional snacks, drinks, rapid and all-night 50-50 raffles, games of chance and a basket raffle. Apollo

The Apollo Ministerium will sponsor a Lenten lunch series at noon Wednesdays through April 9 at various churches. The March 26 service will be at New Beginnings United Methodist Church, 1559 Route 56, Kiski Township. The Rev. Phil Ramstad of First Lutheran Church will be the speaker.

Avonmore

First Presbyterian Church, 518 Indiana Ave., will have a special worship service at 11 a.m. March 30 with special guest speaker Tiffany Johnson. Johnson was attacked by a shark and lost half of her right arm. She now runs Be An Overcomer Ministries that helps others find hope and strength in challenging circumstances. Light refreshments will be served at 10:30 a.m. and after the service. Donations to benefit Johnson’s ministry will be accepted.

Leechburg

The Leechburg Ministerium hosts a Lenten lunch series at 11:45 a.m. Fridays through April 10 at Cross Roads Community Presbyterian Church, 271 Main St. Donations will be accepted to support the ministerium emergency voucher fund.

Tarentum

• A Lenten lunch and worship series will be offered Wednesdays at First Baptist Church, 410 E Third Ave. The service begins at noon and lunch will be served afterward. The Rev. Robert Dayton of Central Presbyterian Church, Tarentum, will be the speaker. People of all faiths and denominations are welcome.

• Central Presbyterian Church, 305 Allegheny St., will host a free women’s book discussion group at 11 a.m. March 31 and the last Monday of each month through May. Each session includes a time of discussion and learning, followed by a light lunch and fellowship at noon. The book is “Boundless Compassion: Creating a Way of Life” by Joyce Rupp. All women are welcome and attendance is not required at every meeting. Vandergrift

Kiski Area Association of Churches will sponsor a free weekly community Lenten lunch series at Vandergrift Presbyterian Church, 195 Washington Ave. A prayer service will begin at noon with a community speaker and light lunch will be served afterward.
