Soup cook-off planned by Brackenridge American Legion Auxiliary
Brackenridge American Legion Auxiliary will sponsor a soup cook-off Feb. 15 at the post, 845 First Ave.
Bring your best soup in a roaster or stock pot by 12:30 p.m., and your recipe if you wish to share it. Sampling and judging will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. by all adults who attend and winners will be announced at 3 p.m. Soup will be sold as a fundraiser for the auxiliary, takeout or dine in and prizes will be awarded.
The public is welcome to sample, vote and purchase soup. Entrant registration is required. For details and to register, call Anita at 412-860-6351.
Peoples Library to host seed swap
A free seed swap to prepare for the upcoming growing season will be from 1 to 3 p.m. Feb. 8 at Peoples Library, 880 Barnes St., New Kensington.
Bring your extra seeds to trade and meet with other gardeners and Penn State Master Gardeners of Westmoreland County.
