Police filed charges Friday against a teenager accused of firing shots into a New Kensington home in November 2022.

The teen, now 19, was 16 years old when police responded to a shots-fired incident at 12:30 a.m. on Nov. 29, 2022, in the 1200 block of Taylor Avenue.

“The investigation has been ongoing,” said Melanie Jones, spokeswoman for the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s Office. “Search warrants were executed, culminating in charges being filed against this individual.”

Authorities did not identify the teen, who is being charged as a juvenile.

“The defendant was a juvenile when the alleged crime occurred,” Jones said.

One adult and three minors were inside the home when the shooting occurred, authorities said.

No injuries were reported.

The teen is charged with being a person not to possess or own a firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor, discharging a firearm into an occupied structure and recklessly endangering another person.
