A Scott Township man is in custody after a series of road rage incidents in the Oakmont area.
Vishavdeep Singh, 22, is facing felony charges after he allegedly threatened multiple drivers with what was thought to be a shotgun.
Oakmont police were contacted on Nov 6 by two drivers who encountered Singh in a road rage incident. According to a criminal complaint, a man was driving a box truck on Fifth Street past the borough’s police department when Singh allegedly came speeding toward him.
The man told police he put his hands in the air as a nonverbal cue that he did not know what Singh wanted him to do. Singh allegedly pulled a long gun on the driver in response.
Police later discovered the gun was an Airsoft shotgun that Singh admitted to altering to make it look “as realistic as he could,” the criminal complaint said.
A witness driving behind the box truck confirmed the story, police said. She said she honked her horn in an attempt to draw attention to the situation.
When Singh drove past her car, he allegedly swore at her and pointed the gun at her as well.
Police said they were able to confirm the witnesses’ stories and identify the car’s license plate using the police station’s surveillance cameras.
The complaint said the vehicle’s license plate was involved in a similar road rage report the day before in Pittsburgh.
Oakmont police released an alert for the 2021 gray Honda HRV on Nov. 7, asking people to call the police if they see the car.
Oakmont police worked with Ross Township police to identify Singh as the driver.
Singh went to the Oakmont Police Department for an interview. According to the criminal complaint, he admitted to the road rage incident and presented the Airsoft gun to police for evidence.
Singh is facing multiple charges, including two felony charges of aggravated assault and misdemeanors of terroristic threats and simple assault.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Dec. 17.
