Leechburg Volunteer Fire Department members depart to their vehicles after attending to a house fire along River Road in Gilpin Township on Tuesday, Sept. 20.

Firefighters from two municipalities were able to prevent a blaze from spreading after the awning of a home caught fire in Gilpin on Tuesday evening, according to authorities.

Crews from the Gilpin and Leechburg volunteer fire departments were dispatched to a three-story frame home in the 3100 block of River Road in Gilpin at 5:38 p.m. after smoke was seen coming from the upper level, according to authorities.

Within minutes of arriving on scene, crews were able to begin spraying water to extinguish the flames and prevent them from spreading to other parts of the house, according to emergency dispatchers.

Investigators said there were no injuries reported and damage to the home was contained to the awning.
